ABOUT NICHOLAS KORN (ME)
I have been producing electronic-based dance music since 2008 and have released 5 albums/EPs under various names, such as Nicholas Nix, Nix Machine and Nikolai9. My primary influences are from the 80’s and 90’s, most prominently mega-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
ABOUT THE ATOMIC SYMPHONIES
In 2018, I decided to expand the vision and vista of my music and began to compose and produce the series that has been my mainstay ever since – The Atomic Symphonies. There are now 10 of these sonic monsters, and I am working on Atomic Symphony No. 11 right now. The Atomic Symphony takes the 4-Movement structure of the classical symphony and re-energizes and re-imagines it with the beats and instruments of EDM, pop, funk, rock and synthwave. It infuses the epic architecture of the musical past with the groove and grind of today’s dance scene.
ABOUT LIVE PERFORMANCES
The set-up for live presentations of the Atomic Symphonies is basically a DJ-style staging with the option for video accompaniment. A full Atomic Symphony can last 40-50 minutes, but the movements can be mixed and matched to accommodate shorter or longer sets.
I have appeared twice at the Art Academy of Cincinnati’s annual Music and Poetry Festival (2022 & 2023) and am looking for more opportunities to share this music in environments with a live audience. One of my proudest moments at the last AAC event was having a group get on the floor to dance through my entire set, even though these tracks were new to them.
